Galaxea horrescens or Acrohelia horrescens – This interesting and uncommon branching Galaxea is farmed at Biota. We haven’t seen many of these in the aquarium hobby, so this is a great piece for the collector of unusual corals.
Unlike other Galaxea, this species tends to have shorter, less deadly sweeper tentacles. It’s still wise to give it room to grow and keep it from touching other coral in your tank.
Galaxea is a type of large polyp stony coral that will benefit from stable alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, and trace elements in the water. It prefers moderate water flow and light, and it does well in the lower sections of well-lit tanks. Use care when acclimating it to your lighting.
This hardy species is a good choice for beginners who have a stable environment and water parameters. This coral will quickly grow new branches.
